Cybersecurity Training Programs:

Building Cyber Awareness Culture in an Educational Institution.

Client: A private university with over 8,000 students and 700 staff members

Challenge:

Following a phishing attack that compromised multiple faculty email accounts, the university realized the need for cybersecurity awareness training. Previous efforts were ad hoc and unmeasured

Our Approach:

We conducted a training needs assessment, followed by the design of a 3-tier awareness program (basic, advanced, role-specific). We customized content based on real incidents at the university and aligned it with NIST NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework

Solution:

Training was delivered via interactive e-learning modules, live webinars, and phishing simulations. Faculty received tailored sessions on data protection, while IT admins were trained on advanced threat detection

Outcome:

Over 92% of participants completed the training. Phishing simulation success rates dropped from 38% to 4% within 2 months. A culture of reporting incidents emerged, and the university formally embedded cybersecurity training into its onboarding and academic calendar.
